FERNANDO PELAEZ-PIER

Fernando is a prominent member of the global legal fraternity and has contributed to the development of the international legal community. He was Lex Mundi Chair (1992-1993), founder and Chair of the International Bar Association (IBA) Latin American Forum 1994-1998 and continue his career in the IBA being its President in 2009-2010.

Fernando was a founding partner of Hoet Peláez Castillo Duque, one of the leading Venezuelan law firms and was its managing partner. Prior to joining the firm in Caracas, Venezuela in 1977, Fernando practiced in Mexico, Paris and London.

Fernando is retired of his firm and formed FPeláez Consulting to provide services to professional service firms.

Fernando remains active in the IBA and is the current Chair of the Commission on the Future of Legal Services and an Honorary Life Member of the IBA Council, is Academic Director of two IE Law School’s (Madrid) executive programs for Latin American Lawyers, the Lawyers Management Program and Digital Transformation.

He has received several awards in recognition to his exceptional career granted, among others, by Chambers and Partners, Latin Lawyer, New York City Bar and the Caracas Bar.
